Essential Functions: POSITION SUMMARY: The Graduate School is looking for a Marketing & Communications Specialist who can lead its communication and marketing operations in a high-impact, predominantly digital-focused environment with an overall emphasis on reputation building and promotion. The individual will develop communications strategies and plans for specific Graduate School initiatives across a variety of digital platforms and channels including web, social media, E-mail marketing and more. The position requires demonstrated expertise in digital marketing as well as a proven track record in producing innovative, compelling multimedia content. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall design, development and management of the Graduate School’s communications in support of upcoming and current reputation building, recruitment, enrollment, alumni relations and fundraising efforts. Creates strategies for effective digital marketing to promote the activities and signature events of the Graduate School to all key constituencies. Works with key partners to identify and pursue promotional opportunities in media outlets. Proactively identifies needs for enhanced internal and external communications across the University. Creates and maintains ongoing measurement and evaluation plans in order to guide and refine future efforts. Has primary responsibility for and manages the Graduate School’s website and social media channels. Shapes and evolves website content and organization in a Drupal content management system. Conducts needs analyses and recommends appropriate technologies and approaches based on Graduate School needs. Develops key communications to support graduate student recruitment and enrollment. Includes the management and/or production of all marketing-related content production: writing and editing, video production, photography, graphic design, and social media. Works with external vendors and supervises student workers. Serve as internal communication and content development resource for Graduate School-housed programs and initiatives. Play an active role in University-wide communication partnerships; serve as liaison to Director of Communication in Arts & Sciences; the Office of Public Affairs, and others.  Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. Develop and manage Graduate School social media accounts, including accounts designed specifically for Graduate School Dean’s communications. Five or more years of progressive responsibility in the area of marketing communications. Previous experience in a higher education environment.
